Thanks yancek. I'll see if I can figure something out using the process in the link you shared and report back. Not sure if it's clear that I'm trying to copy files FROM my phone, not TO it, but if I...
I'm a musician. I've been using the Voice Memos app on my iPhone 6s to record thousands of little musical ideas, and I'd like to be able to back them up to my linux desktop computer. (Running Lubuntu...
Update: running update-grub fixed it!
(And for the record it did show the Windows 7 partitions.)
Thanks everybody.
Ah. I just ran the boot repair and came back to find the update-grub messages. So I'll try that, but in the meantime here's the pastebin generated by boot-repair:

Thanks, yeah. I figured it was something like that. I got it home and plugged the speakers back into the headphone jack and I'm fine.
Hi helpful humans!
My computer is set up as a dual-boot system with Windows 7 on one partition, and Lubuntu on the other.
I mostly just use the Lubuntu system, but today, for the first time in a...
Also also, I'm realizing that I normally use the headphone jack to power speakers, but I am cat-sitting and didn't bring any speakers or headphones and am relying on my computer's built-in speakers....
I ran inxi. Not sure if any of this is useful.
~$ inxi -SMA

Further update - it looks like if I just wait a while, without playing any sound, the sound will come back. (And then disappear again within about 30-120 seconds)
Update: I rebooted the machine. The audio came back. It worked for about a minute and 45 seconds and then it kicked out again. I disconnected and reconnected the wireless internet, voila, it works...
Using Lubuntu 22.04 with the LXQt desktop environment.
The audio has been cutting out on my computer all day. It's across applications. Firefox, VLC media player, it all stops working. The "Volume...
I've grown somewhat used to disabling and enabling the internet whenever pages stop loading. It would still be nice to have an actual solution. In the meantime, it's happened two days in a row now...
I'm running Lubuntu 22.04 and using Mozilla Firefox as my web browser.
My issue is this: several times a day, sometimes as often as every two minutes, the internet stops working. The wifi signal...
Alternatively, I opened a terminal while trying a live version of Ubuntu 20.04 (22.04 wouldn't fit on a DVD) and entered this:
udisksctl unlock -b /dev/sdb5
udisksctl mount -b...
I believe my machine uses Legacy BIOS. I am considering opening a terminal and trying the following:
Boot into a Live CD.
Check your keyboard.
Open a terminal.
Good to hear from you, Fred. Thanks for the super helpful links! I believe the answer to my problem is in there somewhere. Just making a Ubuntu Desktop live DVD and then I'll give that stuff a go.
Okay! the first command yielded
Legacy Mode (alias CSM alias BIOS mode)
And the second command yielded a pile of data... what am I looking for?
(The computer i am trying to repair is not...
Downloading a ubuntu installer now. But in the meantime I wanted to see what i could achieve from the GParted Live DVD command line.
Ran blkid, then, as per...
The relevant partition is sda. I don't know how to compare the partition to the output in the error, use blkid, or view grub.cfg.
I used a USB stick to install Pop_OS! in the first place, but I...
Thanks for the response! I guess I was thinking of this as a general boot-repair/computer issue, and not specifically a POP_OS! issue.
The HP is a Pavilion. I have no idea if it is EFI or not. It's...
The short version:
My computer crashed mid-update and now it won't boot. I want to use boot-repair to try to fix it so I can decrypt and recover my data, but there's no option to boot from a USB...
Update: I've given up and installed ShotCut instead. I don't like it as much, but it works, so it wins.
Did some googling regarding all the TimelineWebView messages. [Someone][https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33704128/undefined-properties-and-return-types-when-using-qwebchannel] said that...
Okay. Installed FFMpeg and used qt-faststart to move the moov-atom for one of my crashy video files. It did the conversion and spat out a newly named video file. I ran openshot-qt from terminal and...
